Best Prices On Pre Owned 2010 Nissan Rogue S

The Nissan Rogue is one of the most inappropriately named vehicles on the market.  When you hear the word “Rogue,” you think of something rebellious and different: something that marches to its own beat.  Instead, what you get with the Nissan Rogue is a compact crossover SUV that drives and rides like an entry-level luxury sport wagon.  There is nothing “rogue” about that.

The 2010 Nissan Rogue S is the first of three trim levels.  It has a 2.5 liter, inline 4-cylinder engine that produces 170 horsepower.  It has 16-inch steel wheels, front-wheel drive, and a automatic, continuously variable transmission.  It is rated at 22 mpg in the city and 27 mpg on the highway.  A model with the optional all-wheel drive went from zero to sixty in 9.2 seconds.

The Nissan Rogue S comes with a simulated alloy, tilt-telescope steering wheel, front bucket seats, split-folding rear seats, full-power accessories, cruise control, simulated alloy trim on the shift knob, dash, doors, and center console, air conditioning, a rear liftgate door, a rear defogger, and a rear wiper.  The audio system has 4 speakers, AM/FM radio, and a CD/MP3 player.

The Rogue also comes with stability control, traction control, antilock brakes, brake assist, side front airbags, side curtain airbags, and active front head restraints.  In government testing, the Rogue received perfect scores of 5 stars in front and side impact tests, with the exception of 4 stars for front impact front passenger protection.  The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety, though, gave it their best scores of “good” in all front and side impact tests.

Conclusions and driver feedback:

First of all, the main strength of this crossover is its interior.  This looks more like an entry-level luxury car than a mainstream compact crossover.  The dash is elegant and made with high-quality, soft-touch materials, and the controls are visually entertaining and practical to use.  The front seats are soft but supportive, and even though they don’t have a lot of adjustment, there is plenty of headroom and legroom.

The rear seats are a bit cramped, though.  They are fine for kids, but adults should use the rear seats for short hops only.  There are 28.9 cubic feet of cargo space behind the rear seat, and you can increase it to 57.9 by folding the rear seats down.

The drive and ride are those of a nice midsize sedan with a touch of sporty attitude.  The steering is precise and responsive, while the suspension is in the middle between sporty performance and passenger comfort.  Somehow, it manages to produce great handling and a very compliant ride.  The engine is adequate for acceleration and smooth highway performance, but the CVT does get a bit noisy under duress.

All in all, the Rogue S is a great crossover SUV for front seat comfort, and is pleasant for a young family.

The verdict: as long as you can handle the relative lack of rear seat and cargo space, and don’t want to win any races, the Rogue S is a good choice.
