Best Prices & Deals On 2010 Jeep 4 X 4 Liberty Sport SUV’s
The Jeep Liberty was introduced for the 2002 as a replacement for the Cherokee. It is a compact SUV. The Liberty is now in its second generation. Like any Jeep smaller than a Grand Cherokee, it is known as the consummate off-road vehicle, but one that struggles to provide a civilized ride on pavement. The second generation started in 2008. Unfortunately, the industry has come a long way in the last three years. The Liberty could use at least a refresh, and probably a third generation.

The 2010 Jeep 4 X 4 Liberty Sport SUV is the lowest of three trim levels. It has a 3.7 liter V6 engine that produces 210 horsepower and 235 pound-feet of torque. It has 16-inch alloy wheels, part-time 4-wheel drive, and a 4-speed automatic transmission that includes descent control and brake hill holder. It is rated at 15 mpg in the city and 21 mpg on the highway, and can tow 3500 pounds.
The Liberty Sport comes with a tilt-only steering wheel, front sport seats with a fold flat passenger seat, a 60/40 split-folding rear seat that also reclines, cloth upholstery, 12-volt outlets in the front and cargo areas, air conditioning, a rear liftgate door, and heated mirrors. The audio system has AM/FM/satellite radio, a CD/MP3 player, and an audio jack.
The Liberty Sport also comes with stability control, traction control, rollover mitigation, side front airbags, side curtain airbags, antilock brakes, and active front head restraints. The US government gave the Liberty perfect 5 star ratings in both front and side impacts. The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety gave it their highest score of “good” for front impacts, but their second-lowest rating of marginal for side impacts. We usually side with the IIHS because they have a direct financial stake in the accuracy of their ratings.
Conclusions and driver feedback:
There is no way to sugarcoat this: the Liberty is made to roll in the mud like a pig. The interior is plain and made of hard materials, which makes it very easy to clean after a weekend of off-road adventures. There is plenty of cabin space. The front seats have plenty of head, leg, and shoulder room, while the rear seats are also spacious. There is also plenty of cargo space. There are 31.5 cubic feet of cargo space behind the seats, and another 32.5 if you fold the rear seats down.
The Liberty is made for off-road driving, and is great for off-road use. Unfortunately, that causes a lot of body roll and a pronounced steering lag on the pavement. The engine has nice low-end torque off-road, but is tepid at best on the pavement.
The verdict: the Liberty is a great off-road vehicle, but isn’t recommended for other uses unless you really don’t mind turning city driving into an off-road adventure.
