The large crossover SUV has become a very popular vehicle as of late. It is perfect for those who have traditionally bought full size SUV’s who would like better fuel economy and don’t need quite as much bulk. They also cost a bit less.

The 2010 Buick Enclave seats seven passengers in its conventional setup with second-row captain’s chairs, with bench seat available that ups the capacity to eight. It has a 3.6 liter V6 engine that produces 288 horsepower and 270 pound-feet of torque. It has all-wheel drive, 19-inch alloy wheels, and a 6-speed automatic transmission. It is rated at 17 mpg in the city and 24 mpg on the highway. If you upgrade to the towing package, you can tow 4,500 pounds.
The Enclave CX is the base of three trim levels. It comes with a tilt-telescope, leather-wrapped, wood-trimmed steering wheel, cloth upholstery, foglights, bi-xenon headlights, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, split-folding third row seats, folding captain chairs in the second row, heated outside mirrors, power liftgate, 3-zone climate control, and power front seats. The audio system has Bluetooth, 6 speakers, AM/FM radio, CD/MP3 player, and an audio jack.

The Enclave also has anti-lock brakes, stability control, traction control, side front airbags, side curtain airbags, and GM’s patented OnStar emergency communication system. In side and front crash tests, the Enclave got perfect scores of 5 stars from the government and perfect scores of good from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety.
Conclusions and driver feedback:
The cabin is made of very nice materials, and the wood trim gives it an air of luxury. The cabin space is great. There is plenty of both headroom and legroom in the first two rows, especially if you leave the captain’s seats in the second row. The third row is too tight for most adults, but fine for kids. The total amount of cargo space with the back two rows folded is 116 cubic feet. There are 68 cubic feet if you only fold the third row, and 19 cubic feet behind the seats.
The Enclave is tweaked toward customer comfort and safety. The engine is enough to accelerate the Enclave OK, and to travel at highway speeds quietly and without labor. This is a heavy vehicle, though, and drives like one. There is a lot of body roll when turning, and forward pitch when braking. The Enclave is meant to be driven conservatively and in a straight line.
The ride is very nice, bordering on luxury. Passengers can almost detach from the road and environment. There are no big jolts and you don’t even feel minor surface imperfections in the road.
All in all, this is a solid and very good family vehicle. Just don’t expect any excitement.
The verdict: soccer moms, come on down.
